Farm Quilt

Over the past three or four years I have done very little sewing (except for the mending of sheep jackets of course) due to my sewing machine which was in very poor health.  It managed to finally die a few months ago and over the Holidays I got my dream machine- a Janome 6600. I will do a post about it soon, but first my farm quilt.

A few years back, before my machine quit working properly, the hubby and I went to the big quilt show in Paducah Kentucky.  I picked up some of the cutest farm fabric there and had been wanting to make a scrap quilt from it for the longest time.

It is just full of farm animals, bales of hay, tractors and wagons, and all kinds of farmy goodness.

I had to emphasize the sheep of course.

I even added a few extra appliqué sheep for good measure.

I like the back of a quilt to be interesting so I also added some of the farm theme pieces there also.  This is definitely my new favorite quilt to snuggle up under after I come in from doing the chores.

  1. Oh my goodness! What a special quilt! I love it! When I was small, Mama had a Sun Bonnet Sue quilt. I could sit for hours looking at the different colored dresses and bonnets on the quilt. Your quilt is beautiful!

  2. Thanks so much. I have loved having a sewing machine again. The spinning and wool production has slowed way down, but life will balance out after I get a few projects finished.
